David: - Hey, guys, listen to me. I have come here to invite you all. I have organized a special Christmas Eve Party for my college friends and my office colleagues. Please be there in my apartment on 24th December evening. It’s an earnest request.
Ranjit: - Ei sabbash, darun invitation diley guru. Sure, sure, tui party dicchish, aar amra asbo naa, taah kakhono hoy naaki. In any case, we will not get any seat inside the ‘Olypub’ bar of Park Street on 24th December evening also. Therefore, it is better to visit your house to drink some alcohols.
David: - Yeah, sure, you people are always welcome. My girlfriend Liza is already planning to make a special cake for that Christmas Eve party.
Farhad: - Please don’t mind, David; but I will not be able to attend your party, for some personal reasons.
Arindam: - Arrey, tera kya personal reasons hai? Why don’t you tell the truth that as you are a conservative Muslim; so, you don’t want to attend a Christmas Eve Party? Arrey, look at me, I am also a conservative and traditional Hindu, but I will attend that party.
Farhad: - You just shout as if you are a very conservative Hindu, by uttering Jai Shree Ram and all those stuffs, but your mind is not communal, but neutral. That is why; you don’t hesitate to criticize anyone without any biased opinion. In my case also, I am not communal or I don’t feel insecure to attend any Christian festive parties, but I have some other works to do on that night. Every year, I celebrate the Christmas in a very different way.
Ranjit: - Oho, I think that Farhad has a Christian girlfriend and he will spend time with her on that special night.
Farhad: - No, Ranjit, there is nothing like that. I am still single and I will marry a girl, whom my Ammi jaan will select for me for performing Nikaah.
David: - Ok, if you don’t want to attend that party, that is not an issue, but as a friend, can I please know about your personal work on that night?
Arindam: - Bhaakh saala, tu bahut bhaao khaa raha hain…aisa koi kaam nahi hai, sirf nautanki kar raha hai tu. See, we all attended your Eid festival party. I still remember the taste of that shahi chicken dishes in your house during Eid party. Waah, kya taste thaa chicken kaa, ekdum lajawab.
Farhad: - Nahi, main bhaao nahi khaa raha hoon. Then, listen to me. You people may not be aware of the fact that I am the adopted son of Mr. Moinullah Hussain. I don’t know, who are my real parents and what was my real religion at the time of my birth. I grew up in St. Mary Orphanage Home until the age of 10 years. Then, my ammi jaan Rehana Hussain adopted me as my son. Actually, she had some medical problems, that is why, she cannot become a mother. She came with her hubby to select a child from St. Mary Orphanage school and I was lucky to be selected there.
David: - Not all orphans are lucky like you to get parents, like you have got, at present. But, what is the link between that orphanage home and not attending my party?
Farhad: - There is a ritual in our orphanage house that on every 25th December, a Santa Claus will come and give gifts to those orphan children. Even, I used to get those gifts also. Believe me, every year; I was unable to sleep on 24th December night, as I used to think with excitement about the gift from Santa Claus. One day, when I asked our teacher, ‘Madam, who is this Santa Claus?’, and then Madam told us that he is the messenger of Jesus, who makes everyone smile by providing them gifts. Later, I came to know that it is none other than our Father D’Souza, who dresses up like Santa Claus and sings the song, ‘Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle all the way’.
Ranjit: - I am totally confused. You are an adopted Muslim and you appreciate the importance of that Santa Claus. Very Strange, indeed.
Arindam: - Accha, now, I understand, why, you bought those red colored dresses and those items from Park Street. On Christmas Eve, you will dress up like Santa Claus and after 12 AM, which is on 25th December, you will give those gifts to orphans of St. Mary orphanage home. Hey David, someone rightly said, “BE A SANTA CLAUS TO MAKE THEM SMILE.” Let us also dress up like a Santa Claus.
